From the 13th to 20th of April 2015, AHS Korneuburg sent 69 students of classes 5A, 5B and 5C with their teachers Mag. Constanze Schindler, Mag. Bettina Friedrich and Mag. Isabella Kösner to WORLD SCHOOL in Peterborough. The whole group benefited a lot from their stay with regard to their command of English as well as their cultural awareness and competences. Very attentive host families, morning lessons with English native speakers and impressive daytrips to London, Cambridge, Stamford and Peterborough itself made the week exciting and enjoyable.

Convince yourselves by reading some of the students’ comments:
“I liked our trip to London very much, especially the shopping in Camden Town. There was such a great variety of shops! I really enjoyed our trip to England, because it was a good way to improve my English skills.” (Zoe Kehrer, 5A)
“We really liked the punting in Cambridge round the universities. On the boat we celebrated two birthdays and had some muffins. The guy who punted our boat was really good-looking, so we enjoyed the little trip.” (Isabella Kozussek, Isabella Kubicek, 5B)
We also spent a lot of time with our “parents”. They took us for a walk, went whopping with us and showed us a real English pub. On our host family day we had a big meal and played “Uno”. We had a brilliant time there.” (Anna Trabelsi, 5C)
“For me, the journey to Peterborough was a great way to improve my English skills and I’m looking forward to going to England again. I really enjoyed the trips to London and Cambridge, but also the great amount of free time we had during this week.” (Alexandra Lipa, 5A)
“We both liked Cambridge more than London, because London is really busy and Cambridge is a green and quiet place. But there are also many shops where we bought souvenirs and typical English sweets.” (Julia, Denise, 5B)
“I was impressed how the British people live in their small houses. The funny thing about the houses is that they all look the same, so sometimes it was a bit difficult to find the way home after a walk in the park.” (Niklas Fraißl, 5C)
“Even though the English classes at our school in England weren’t as challenging as in Austria, we learned some completely new words and typical English phrases. Most of them are quite funny, for example “legless”, which means “drunk”.” (Katharina Schulz, 5A)
“We had a very nice family and good food. This made our journey much better. We could also improve our Spanish because of the Spanish people who were in our classes too.” (Anna Vecsei, Sophia Graf, 5B)
“Peterborough offers many different places you can visit and enjoy your time there. I think the most beautiful place was the cathedral. We went there almost every day and enjoyed our time lying in the grass, chatting to other people.” (Lisa Gaspar, 5C)
“The host families in Peterborough were awesome. They got so close to my heart during this week and it made me cry to leave them.” (Magdalena Umsait, 5A)
