Sixty students of classes 5A, B and C, accompanied by their teachers Mag. Anita Polt, Mag. Julia Prinz and Mag. Constanze Schindler (coordinator) went on a language trip to Worthing on the South coast of England from 25th April to 2nd May 2017. The whole group benefited a lot with regard to their command of spoken English as well as their cultural awareness and knowledge of the natural sciences.
After morning lessons with native speakers, the students enjoyed educational trips to places of interest in the surroundings and finished their days by having dinner with their host families. During two full day trips to London, the adolescents went on a hop-on-hop-off bus tour, visited the frightening London Dungeon, the Science Museum and other famous places. Last but not least, pupils and teachers could relax on a boat tour to Greenwich. Other half-day excursions were the tour round the medieval castle Arundel and the Sealife Centre in Brighton with its big shark tank.
In spite of this tight programme, there was still time to do some shopping and to go to the seaside in Worthing. In addition, some students tasted the traditional cream tea whereas others preferred watching one of the latest movies, “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” in The Dome Cinema, an Edwardian building and one of the oldest working cinemas in England, dating back to 1911.
After eight days of practising their English and gaining new knowledge, the teenagers returned to Vienna a bit tired, but they were healthy and happy.

Now read some of the students‘ comments:
We really enjoyed the hop-on-hop-off bus-tour through London, because we saw many old buildings and famous sights of the city. We also liked the sea, though it was quite cold. As we were such a big group, we had to wait for a long time at several places of interest, which was a bit annoying. All in all, it was an amazing adventure and we can really recommend it.
Katharina Orovits, Daniela Brunner, 5C
There is one thing we must admit: the shore was awesome. In Austria we have lakes, but the sea is a completely different thing.

The highlight of the week in England was the London Dungeon. It is one of the must-see attractions in London. It was incredible to go through it and watch the actors representing the history of London in a spooky and interesting way. Typical for England, it was rainy, cloudy and cold most of the time. But fortunately, we could enjoy a few sunny spells during the days and thus the beautiful seaside of Worthing.
Florian Bauer & Alexander Gaspar, 5C
When we arrived in Worthing, we were picked up by our host mother immediately. We had our own bedroom and a separated bathroom. Although the family didn´t make a point on tidiness we enjoyed the stay a lot. On the first days, the family didn´t talk much with us but after some time we got into conversations. Besides, we were joined by three pets: a dog, a guinea pig and a noisy parrot.

London, what a great city!
On our trip to England we also spent two days in London. During the nice boat ride to Greenwich on the river Thames, we could see the different sights again: e.g. the London Eye, Tower Bridge and many more.

On our language trip, we stayed with a nice and friendly host family. We talked to them every day and improved our English skills. They prepared typical British food like fish and chips or baked beans, which tasted very good. We also got to know a really good-looking host brother. We also had to go to a language school where we learned some interesting things about London and Worthing. The teachers were cool and the lessons were funny.

What we really enjoyed was the visit of the very old and big castle, Arundel. From the top of the castle, we had a beautiful view over the small town of Arundel and its surroundings. This town is very famous for its tea houses where they serve cream tea with scones, clotted cream and jam.
